The design 80823 is arranged in a way to create the layout of Lahaina town. 80823 is also the day of the fire August 8th 2023. This shirt focuses on the destruction of The Banyan Tree, which has served as a pillar of Lahaina culture for over 147 years.
This design reflects the damaged top of the tree, but will ultimately survive and rebuild itself with its vast root system still remaining alive!
As someone who spent my entire Adult life (15 years) in Lahaina, I have worked at Lahaina Printsellers for 10 years, first in IT, then in sales and ultimately as head of operations. The profits from this are solely dedicated to helping rebuild the art gallery that lost over 40 years of history, and will in the near future, serve to be a home to artists, who lost their art and want to rebuild together.
These shirts are produced locally on Maui, by a company that has served several stores in Lahaina Town over 20 years.
